FESTUS-ISMS
TYPOGRAPHY BADGE EXPLORATIONS
A bit of backstory—"Festus" is the name of my Jack Russell Terrier. For this project, I created 28 unique type badges inspired by phrases I say to him almost every day.
The goal was to step outside of my comfort zone stylistically and create badges that reflect his quirky personality. I’ve always seen Festus as a little grandpa who loves being outdoors, so I leaned into that aesthetic with a muted color palette (which is not typical for me) and playful display typefaces that pushed me beyond my usual choices. The typeface "Bunyan" became a key part of the system—it has a subtle "camping" vibe that helped tie the whole visual language together. Overall, I wanted the badges to feel like a clean, vintage nature graphic—something you might find on a fun wildlife tee that a cool grandpa would wear.
