THE problem
Nutrition Confusion
Young adults, especially women aged 18–24, often feel overwhelmed by the flood of nutrition information and frustrated by apps that focus on weight loss without explaining the “why” behind dietary guidance. This lack of clarity makes it difficult to make informed, personalized health decisions; especially for those with specific medical conditions.
THE solution
Smart Guidance
Our app delivers personalized, science-backed nutrition guidance that explains the “why” behind each recommendation. By combining tailored insights with accessible education, it empowers users, especially those with specific health needs, to make confident, informed choices about their diet.
overview
InForm strives to educate, as well as encourage users to learn more about the nutrients they are consuming. While many people care about what goes into their body, specific, customizable nutritional information is not as easily accessible as one might assume. InForm seeks to change this, serving as an educational platform with information personalized to the user, their goals, and their accommodations. The goal of InForm is to serve as an interactive and enlightening platform to those wanting to know the why behind what they eat.

MY DESIGN Process
The design of Inform started with research into how young adults navigate nutrition, especially those managing specific health conditions. I worked with my team to conduct interviews and surveys that revealed a major gap; people didn’t just want to be told what to eat, they wanted to understand why it mattered.
As the lead UX designer, I developed user personas and mapped journeys to highlight confusion points in existing apps. From there, I sketched early wireframes and collaborated with the team to prototype features like personalized food suggestions and science-backed explanations. We tested with users managing conditions like celiac disease and high blood pressure to ensure recommendations were clear, helpful, and empowering.
Nutrient Information
The information page serves as a comprehensive knowledge hub within Inform, offering users in-depth, personalized insights on food items, nutrients, substitutions, and global food standards, enabling them to make informed dietary decisions aligned with their health goals and nutritional needs.
Food Integration
The ranking system serves as a dynamic food exploration and comparison tool, enabling users to discover suitable alternatives, analyze nutritional content, and receive personalized recommendations tailored to their unique dietary needs and health goals
GROCERY SCANNER
The scanner serves as a powerful tool that enables users to instantly access and evaluate nutritional information of grocery items by scanning barcodes, providing personalized ingredient rankings, product comparisons, and shopping list functionality to facilitate informed, healthier purchasing decisions aligned with individual dietary needs and preferences.
Personalized PROFILE
The personalized profile serves as a centralized hub for users to input, view, and manage their comprehensive health data, dietary preferences, and budget constraints. This allows the app to provide highly personalized nutritional recommendations and insights tailored to everyone's unique profile and goals.

PERSONAL GROWTH Statement
Inform challenged me to design not just for usability, but for understanding. I learned how to break down complex nutritional science into language and visuals that feel approachable and empowering; especially for users facing serious health concerns.
This project deepened my ability to empathize with users navigating overwhelming, high-stakes decisions about their health. It reminded me that design isn’t just about aesthetics or efficiency. It’s about building tools that foster clarity, confidence, and care in people’s daily lives.
